Original Patent Design for the Mitchell Reel
The following diagram was formulated pre war and submitted post war for a Patent number and approvel. This was granted in 1948 but design was from 1938/1939 ~ the original concept date of the Mitchell reel. The war held up the process. If you look closely, this original design has no anti reverse system! The original proto-type reel was absent of this feature.
